World Cup nails – that is what I’ve been calling them! They are however, a bit more than that: they are showing support to my team – Brasil!
I decided to put into practice the invaluable advice from Michelle Humphrey, the Maybelline nail extraordinaire, and try a “tie-dye” type of nails.
I picked my national colours and first painted all the nails pure white, using two coats of Colorama Pétala Branca polish.
After that, I put a blob of nail polish on a plate and using eyeshadows disposable sponge applicators, carefully dabbed each one of the colours, one at a time, in different spots of the nails, tapping and blending into the white and into each other to create the effect, making sure the bits near the edge were more pigmented. The green is Kiko 343, the yellow, H&M Summer Sunrise and the blue, Kiko 385.
I then applied Seche Vite topcoat to cement the design, a coat of my favourite ever glitter topcoat (holographic Electric Lane, from Nails Inc) and another one of Seche Vite to seal the deal.
Overall happy with the design, this is actually my second attempt; the first was a bit too blocky, I used too much polish, the lines were too defined. So I removed all and did again, a bit more delicately, with less polish.
For a first try, I think I did quite well and I am pleased with it. I am sure more tie-dye-esque manis will follow!
Have you ever tried a”tie-dye” mani? Are you doing any World Cup inspired nails?
I love these, such a simple idea but they look really great!! Danielle xx

Love it!!!!! Amazing nail artwork! They really look great on you. I just wish I also have the talent to do that. I tried that twice but it was unsuccessful. Looks like I’m forever going to nail salons! lol
