A super long lasting lip colour? Yes, please! New Maybelline New York SuperStay 14h Megawatt Lipstick promises to stay up and take your pout in glorious shades throughout the day!
Does it deliver?
The SuperStay 14h lipstick are already part of the Maybelline line and for this summer, the are launching four bright Megawatt new colours: Flash of Fuchsia (which I tried), Burst of Coral, Neon Pink and Red Rays. The lipstick comes in a compact and bright coloured packaging, indicating the product shade, its bullet slightly smaller than standard size lipstick.
It applies well but it has a dry consistency, so not at all creamy. However, it glides ok, without too much drag.
The colour is extremely saturated, one swipe on the lips makes for deep, rich colour. Flash of Fuchsia is a rich dark pink with an almost matte finish, but with some pretty, almost iridescent sheen to it.
And it lasts. I mean, maybe not 14 hours, but upon application in the morning, without any priming or fixer, it survives extremely well through my three or four coffees in the morning, and breakfast. I personally didn’t find it drying, but this is not a moisture lip product, so beware if you have really dry lips (I have some tips of how to keep your lips moisturised).
It does fade consideraly after eating lunch, but a re-touch will fix that. It will then stay to the end of the working day, no problems. This staying power is greater than any single lip product I’ve ever tried. In all honesty, it carries staying power very similar to a matte lipstick plus fixer.
The Maybelline New York SuperStay 14h Megawatt Lipstick shades (Flash of Fuchsia, Burst of Coral, Neon Pink and Red Rays) will be available this month (June), it costs £6.99 and can be found from major retailers around the country.
