Product review: Garnier Miracle Skin Cream

Garnier Miracle Skin Cream

So, a little helping hand for tired, dull skin, that works throughout the day and is also anti-ageing? Is that right? Garnier is promising us just that, in the shape of the Miracle Skin Cream.

This new product, launching in February 2014, claims to deliver instant transformation to the skin. It actually acts like a tinted moisturiser, but the magic is that it is white, with microcapsules that burst in contact with the skin, delivering not only colour, but one that adjusts to the skin tone, smoothing and illuminating the skin.

The micro-capsules

And this works incrementally throughout the day, giving that helping hand when your (mine, at least!) skin needs the most: towards of the day, when it looks more tired and dehydrated.

It is not just a makeup item though. You will know by now that I am very sceptical about BB creams, tinted moisturisers and others that claim to do all but fall short of being good at anything. And also that my skin is far from good.

I actually used this instead of my regular foundation a few days. And it works well under regular foundation (and all the other steps I take), as a primer, although it doesn’t fix makeup, it smooths, illuminates and hydrates the skin. It doesn’t feel sticky under it (as many BB’s and tinted moisturisers did for me) or acted as a helping agent for makeup to melt.

The Miracle Skin Cream contains seven anti-ageing ingredients (LHA, pro-retinol, vitamin C, Vitamins B3 and B5, peptides, ginger) and also and SPF 20, working on aiding to reduce appearance of wrinkles and dark spots, as well as helping to improve firmness, radiance and smoothness.

On research, the vast majority of women (above 70% overall, but most above 83%) that all the claims, instant or longer-term, were fulfilled by using the product.

One downside, some may say, is that the product is indeed very fragranced. I don’t have a problem with it at all, on the contrary,  the smell works for me (I find it very nice!), but I know lots of people do have issues with it, so bear that in mind.

Also, I can safely say it suits for me. My skin went though a terrible patch (I seem to always say that, I know), and now is showing signs of improvement and I give this a bit of credit, as it is part of my new regime.  Sometimes I use it on its own to go to the gym (yeah, you can judge me, but skin like this cannot be seen raw in the streets – jokes aside, the truth is I feel very uncomfortable).

The idea that, apart from helping to keep my skin fresh throughout the day by delivering moisturisation, this is also helping on the anti-ageing front, is very welcome as I am no spring chicken.

And, I have to say, I was very impressed by the white cream magically bursting its capsules and delivering coloured glow to my skin.

The Garnier Miracle Skin Cream will be available this month (February 2014) exclusively at Boots for £12.99 – and they also have a handy Miracle Eye Cream, which I have been using and will talk about very soon!

  1. I have been wanting to try the Garnier products before but their BB cream is not available here in my place. I guess I have to check out the miracle skin cream because tinted moisturizer sounds interesting to try. And I also like the fact that the product has SPF 20.

    • Hi Jen
Not being a fan of BB creams and tinted moisturisers, I was quite surprised about how much I liked this one. It does make skin look fresher and more uniform, and some days I just used that (to go to the gym, for example). The big pluses for me are that it is anti-ageing and has SPF! It also sits well under make-up, which is a must for me.
