For their recently announced exhibition opening on summer 2015 on shoes, the V&A museum in London is going down a route many women all around the world and across times know so well: pleasure and pain.
Shoes: Pleasure and Pain opens on 03 June 2015 and goes until January 2016 displaying extreme and fabulous footwear on which we can feast our eyes.
There will be around 200 pairs (quite close to my collection!) from around the world, including historical shoes and contemporary creations. It will take us through the history of footwear, cultural and technological transformations, as well as showcasing famous shoes – think iconic, celeb associated and much more. Some have never been displayed to the public before. *squeeee*
Now, the word shoes excites me greatly; marry that with the cultural aspect and you have a sure winner.
For now, we wait – be at the ready to purchase the tickets and in the meantime, read the fab V&A blog post on the behind the scenes of this fantastic exhibition.
Worth remembering that at the moment the fashion related exhibitions at the V&A are Horst photography and Wedding Dresses (1775-2014) and in March 2015 comes Alexander McQueen Savage Beauty.
And before you ask, the pleasure ALWAYS outweighs the pain when it comes to shoes.
Oh, how I love the V&A!
