Let’s get one thing straight: I’ve never been a great fan of anything that is called a balm. I blame that on my beauty pet hate: the BB creams.
So along came the B. Rescued Energising Balm – to break my skepticism – I mainly tried as it has “energised” on the name, and let’s face it, most mornings I need some energy. And I was pleasantly surprised.
The balm is a cloudy translucent (is this a thing?) beige colour, very light, fluid and non-greasy, with a subtle flowery smell. It glides really well on the skin, delivers no colour and gets absorbed quickly.
This product seems to be a jack-of-all-trades – put under makeup, use as a primer, slap over… I mean, there is no end to its uses. I used after my moisturiser but before my primer and as a primer – and I have to say I was surprised with the effect. It does seem to amp up that glowy look on the skin. However, I didn’t feel that improves makeup durability used alone as a primer. It feels really lovely on the skin and is also moisturising.
It is perfect for early morning after late nights, where your skin shows the signs of tiredness. It contains Persian silk tree extract that helps reduce the formation of Advanced Glycation End (AGE) products, which cause dullness; it has anti-fatigue properties, helps reduce glycotoxins, hydrates and smooths skin.
Overall, I’d say it is a good addition to any makeup bag.
The B. Rescued Energising Balm is available exclusively at Superdrug and costs £10.99 for 30ml (which for me seems a bit expensive for the size, but I think it is worth it). Also worth noting that B. Makeup products are cruelty free and suitable to vegetarians and vegans.
