Celebrating Real Beauty

This year, Dove is celebrating 60 years. A lot of those have been spent, apart from caring for our skin, supporting a healthy body image: all shapes and sizes hold #RealBeauty.

We all have our curves, edges and sizes that makes us one of a kind, unique, a very limited edition. So Dove gave their classic body wash a little makeover in these six limited edition 250ml bottles, in different shapes and sizes to celebrate diversity.

Needless to say, I was so glad to receive the bottles for what they remind me of: the sometimes very hard task to love myself as I am.

And it seems I am succeeding a bit when I am thanked for being an “inspirational woman (…) helping advance the real beauty debate; using influence to help women embrace their own individuality as a source of confidence”.

I try that, not only through the way I do love my body (most of the times!) and am not scared to show my individuality out there. Of course I do also look up to other women that make me strong in my quest!

I think recently the Instagram post below says a lot about it.

The body wash is creamy and has a gentle formulation containing NutriumMoisture which delivers natural nutrients, nourishes deep and helps maintain the moisture barrier for soft, comfortable and clean skin.

The Dove Deeply Nourishing Body Wash is widely available (RRP £2.55) and I personally love the smell of the classic!

You know the drill, but I’ll say anyway: this post contains PR samples. This review, however, is based on my experience with the product and reflects my honest opinion on them.

I (finally) fell for Chanel

chanel-rouge-allure-velvet-lipstick-review-4My first Chanel lipstick. Yes, you heard it right.

This is one of those moments that makes me feel like a fraud as beauty blogger. Until a few weeks ago, I didn’t own a Chanel lipstick. There, I said it. Even my Chanel bag came before the lipstick!

So obviously I went for a red. Not any red, but the gorgeous Rouge Allure Velvet Rouge Feu (57), part of their Le Rouge Collection no1.

chanel-rouge-allure-velvet-lipstick-review-1This is an orange red, which personally is the best red for me (although true and blue also suit my complexion) and it has a beautiful matte finish.

Despite the finish, it is very creamy and extremely comfortable to wear. Durability is very good and it fades evenly.

chanel-rouge-allure-velvet-lipstick-review-3Also, I find this quite special as it was purchased at the brand new Fabled by Marie Claire shop in Tottenham Court Road, London, where you can find the best names in beauty – skincare, makeup, nails, fragrance, hair – it’s all there!

The counters are super approachable and the service and care are fantastic. Plus, you get to shop the Marie Claire edits, which are perfect for those looking for a look.

chanel-rouge-allure-velvet-lipstick-review-2I have to say that Marie Claire nailed it with Fabled. Bringing all those brands together, making beauty shopping easy.

And it gets easier: you can shop online and get it delivered with Ocado, within a named 1-hour slot. You can read all about the Fabled shopping experience on this post.

And because I love you, here’s a 15% discount code: VOU039323938, valid until the 26th October.

Mastering the flick

lancome-grandiose-eyeliner-review - 1I shall not be seen without my flick! True story. Eyeliners are a huge love of mine, up there with lipstick and Lancôme just did it pretty!

Not only pretty, but the Lancôme Grandiôse liner is also pretty awesome.

The packaging is gorgeous, a little gem with the beautiful brand flower encased at the top of the wand.

lancome-grandiose-eyeliner-review - 1 (1)The formula is good, although maybe slightly dry so needs picking up several times from the bottle for a flick.

The shade Noir Mirifique is super black matte, quick-drying with a fabulous staying power. I mean, hardcore.

lancome-grandiose-eyeliner-review - 3Now, let’s talk about the bendable wand. I think the brush is lovely and extremely precise. The fact it bends can help; it is more ergonomic and intuitive when bent; you can get the brush closer to the roots and corners.

Personally, as I am used to lining with straight brushes so it feels pretty much the same for me.

However, it is the prettiest thing and a fabulous liner that lasts all day. Cannot really ask for more!

The Lancôme Grandiôse Liner costs £23 and is available from the Lancôme website and retailers nationwide.
