Desk to dance floor: a little help from Sleek makeup

sleek_eye_cheek_palette_review - 1Most of us know too well the small desk to dance floor struggle.
For that reason, I welcome products that make my life easier when turning from office worker into night out vixen, and that’s exactly what the Sleek eyes and cheek palette does for me.
The eye colours are very neutral (which is the thing for SS16), but there is a sparkly dark earthy, sparkling Marsala tone that will transform those day eyes into disco magnificence.
sleek_eye_cheek_palette_review - 2Admittedly, the brushes are not amazing, they do the job ok but I prefer taking my MAC handbag sized ones.
The blusher is matte and peachy, which suits a variety of skin tones (personally, my fave shade of blusher) and it also comes a sparkling version, quite close in colour and sheen to an expensive best-seller.

Overall, a great purchase, purse friendly in many ways: it’s compact and multitasking, and costs only £10.

You can get the Sleek A midsummer’s dream palette online at sleekmakeup.com and Superdrug and Boots. It comes in four colour combinations.

Product review: Lancôme Hypnôse Drama Eyes smoky eyes palette by Alber Elbaz

lancome by Alber Elbaz smoky eyes palette

There is no way of resisting this palette for a lover of all things pretty. Although the colours are not new for Lancôme, the pretty dotty packaging created by Alber Elbaz for this five-colour Hypnôse Drama Eyes smoky eye palette is. And yes – I am a sucker for packaging.

More than a that, I am an ultra-sucker for black eye shadow. A black smokey eye is my favourite look. I would wear it everyday. You read it right. DAY. Plus, as a wearer of red lipstick, black is pretty much the only smokey I can get away with. There you have it.

lancome by Alber Elbaz smoky eyes palette This palette comes with five very wearable shades: a very pearly pink, a light silver grey, a metallic charcoal, a very dark charcoal with silver particles and a satin pure black. What a selection!

I created this look using all but the pink colour in the palette. It was an “Ibiza clubbing eye make”, hence the over the top crystals.

Black smokey eyes with crystals -somanylovelythingsApplication was alright, the colours are super pigmented and look great when applied. You can also use them wet for extra impact. Dry they are extremely blendable. The only problem I found with it is that the darker colours drop an awful lot when applying, so if going bold, do eyes first then skin. Or hang tight to tissue under the eye. Once it drops, it really sticks.

Not only it looked fantastic but it also lasted well, so this is a palette which will be accompanying me in many nights out!

Love it.

Eye make-up look challenge – black and silver

Haven’t posted an eye make-up look trial for quite sometime now; but I managed to get this one out and wanted to share how it went.

My aim was to create a dark silver smokey look, with black, as I had just bought a black silver-studded crop top! I wanted it to be dramatic so I added extra big lashes!

I started with the primer (e.l.f, not shown), and brushed the silver pigment all over the lid. I then lined my upper lash line with the gel liner, extending the flick at the end, and my lower water and lash lines with the eye kohl, also extending the flick parallel to the top one. Then, I generously applied the matte black eyeshadow and smoked it, with the pencil brush for definition, just in the corner and around the crease shape, blending just a little bit towards the centre.

I applied the supracolour cream on to the inner corner of the eye and between the upper and lower flicks, as well as to 2/3 of the way of the lower lash line. I brushed the sparkles all over the lid and the highlighter on the brow bone. Finally, I applied the lashes.

Happy with the look, definitely wearable on a night out! I would however, tone down the lashes, and wear a slightly smaller pair!
