Glazed AF

Did anyone say iridescent? Well, believe your eyes, Sleek Makeup has brought out yet another killer highlighter palette, and it comes with some friends. The Distorted Dreams collection carries all the holo vibes.

The Distorted Dreams highlighting palette has five stunning shades brimming with reflective holographic pigments that can be used all over the face. It’s a combination of 3 creams and 2 powders that are gorgeous on their own but really come to life when layered.

The creams have a beautiful colour colour shift and opalescence in pink (Anodise), blue (Beam) and green (Refracted). The powders are a quite shimmery, a cool pink with some glittery particles (Blurred Lights) and a tanned gold (Sweet Delusion).

What I have been using the most is the pink cream and either one of the powders on top for face highlighting. The blue and green are great for eyes (especially as a base) and over lipstick, especially over black (both), blue and purple (blue cream).

I know for a fact these creams will form a base for my festival makeup this year!

The hashtag GlazedAF could not be more appropriate and only a cool AF brand like Sleek could put it out there.

The “glazing” is serious but not ridiculous. Although highly pigmented and very shimmery, there is no excess glitter, so basically it looks look someone planted a beam of light under your skin. It really pulls the light in.

Be mindful that if using alone, the creams and will need translucent powder to set for better durability.

The Matte Me Metallic Matte Smooth Lip Cream liquid lipsticks are quite amazing – a bit of molten metal for the lips. Sadly, alone, none do much for my complexion, but they are amazing to layer on lipstick, especially at the centre of the mouth!

They have great pigmentation and consistency and they dry Matte, but retaining that metallic, luminous finish. Durability is excellent.

And there are three shades to choose from: Roman Copper, a warm and deep rusty copper, Rusted Rose, an intense muted pink with purple undertones (Carol really likes this one) and Volcanic, my fave, with that slight beetle wing colour shift between light pink and subtle green. So pretty!

The collection is already available at Superdrug – YAY.  The Distorted Dreams Highlighting palette costs £10.99 and each of the new Matte Me Metallic Matte Smooth Lip Cream cost £4.99.

Party transformation: from desk to dance floor

desk-to-dancefloor-beauty-1We’ve all been there: great party straight out of a stressful day in the office. And now with the end of year parties in full swing, it is likely you are finding yourself in that situation more often than not.

So you can shine from desk to dance floor, I put a few tips and saviour products together that at this time of the year are dead certain to give you that helping hand, especially when you keep it going a few nights in a row.

desk-to-dancefloor-beauty-2For skin that has been in the office (and in party mode) the Dermalogica Skin Hydrating Booster is a god-send.

I love applying it lightly on my skin throughout the day to retain and maximise moisture; it is also great dabbed on top of make up for an extra glow and to take that powdery finish away from the skin.

desk-to-dancefloor-beauty-12To refresh your makeup, invest in a little multi-tasking palette which doesn’t take much space and will go a long way.

This Sleek Eye and Cheek palette fits the bill and even has a sparkly shade to build on top of the neutrals after hours and turn up the party vibe!

I also decant my foundation into small pots to carry on the go, and use small makeup brushes to apply.

desk-to-dancefloor-beauty-11For you lips, my newest obsession, liquid lipsticks are just perfect as they are quick to apply. At the moment, Kat Von D Vampira is my autumn go-to shade and scream edgy party look.

Taking about that, the Urban Decay All Nighter Makeup Setting Spray is great to fix your makeup in place and keep it going all night long!

desk-to-dancefloor-beauty-4A small deodorant goes a long way – I love the little Dove Invisible Dry that ensures your black or colourful attires are free from marks. very important in a hurry!

desk-to-dancefloor-beauty-8Sore feet? Carnation has a fabulous range to maximise your heel-wearing span and I love this Anti-Blister Stick, which minimises the party-busting shoe rubbing.

desk-to-dancefloor-beauty-5Make sure you always carry flats; I love these Sinderella foldable pumps as they are super comfy to walk on. Perfect for moving in-between parties if your Uber budget is getting close to exhausted!

desk-to-dancefloor-beauty-3For extra hair oomph use a good dry shampoo. I love the Swell Ultimate Volume Dry Shampoo as it has no nasties and refreshes hair as well as giving some volume!

desk-to-dancefloor-beauty-6I always carry a good brush with me, and this mini Wet Brush is brilliant!

desk-to-dancefloor-beauty-7Has barely made it home for a shower? This tiny Gillette Venus razor is perfect for shaving on the go. Showers in the office or the gym? Done! Just make sure you rinse the floor well :)!

desk-to-dancefloor-beauty-8And talking about those pins, at this time of the year nothing beats a little bit of fake tan. Garnier Ambre Solaire No Streaks Bronzer is a fine dry mist that is easy to apply and you don;t need to rub in! It’s available for face too!

desk-to-dancefloor-beauty-9Finally, to smell good, nothing better than a roller ball fragrance. The Gucci Guilty is my festive one of choice at the moment – and perfect for the handbag! Many fragrances now have a roll on version available and I just love it!

Do you have any office to party hacks? Do share. And happy celebrations!

Plump it up!

sleek-plumping-lip-crayon-review - 1On this is always sure: you can always count on Sleek to produce the goods.

I’m a lipstick love but I find quite the application rather tedious (read proper application – liner, brush, shaping, the whole thing!), so for everyday, I favour lip crayons that deliver good pigmentation and durability.

sleek-plumping-lip-crayon-review - 9Enter Sleek Power Plump Lip Crayons, a brand new product launched on the 29 June, which delivers all that plus a stinging plump to the lips.

sleek-plumping-lip-crayon-review - 10The Sleek Power Plum lip crayons comes in six mega wearable colours – red, pinks, coral, nudes: there’s something for everyone.

It’s super smooth with a sheen finish, delivers well in colour pigmentation and last well for the finish, fading evenly and not drying the lips.

sleek-plumping-lip-crayon-review - 7Now, the plumping divided the audience. The sting operation is real and lasts. While I didn’t mind, Alice, my blonde in residence, testing pinks, wasn’t super comfortable with the sensation.

And at each application, it brings back the heat – it’s like you put chillies in your lips. Now, I cannot take spicy food for my life, and I was cool with it; the plumpy feeling is real!

The Sleek Power Plump lip crayons are brand new and just launched, late last month, in six colours, at £5.50 each. You can get them from the Sleek website or from Superdrug.

For spring and summer, Sleek takes us on a Whimsical Wonderland ride

sleek-whimsical-wonderland-collection-review - 1Every season I can count on Sleek to bring my makeup up to date.

For Spring/Summer 16, this is not different: the Whimsical Wonderland collection will take you straight into the spring blooms and summer sun rays.

sleek-whimsical-wonderland-collection-review - 5The iDivine eyeshadow palette in All the Fun in the Fair (£8.99) comes in deliciously pastel shades with a few neutral shades thrown in.

As per usual, there’s a mix of matte and shimmer in the 12 colours, with the cutest names around, and the pigmentation, as well as blending, is exceptional. I am a huge fan of the iDivine palettes and use one of them regularly for my every day looks.

sleek-whimsical-wonderland-collection-review - 3A new product pops in, which is very exciting. The Sweet Cheeks Blushers (£5.50 each) will give you a fresh flush of colour.

They have a gel formula, which applies and blends very well, and feel surprisingly fresh upon application. It is very quick to apply, making it a morning hero.

sleek-whimsical-wonderland-collection-review - 7There are three shades: Likety Split (orange), Hullaballoo (violet) and Tomfoolery (berry). They might seem a bit out there, but they actually work very well.

sleek-whimsical-wonderland-collection-review - 2Finally, the lipsticks. You know how much I love their Lip VIP range (£5.50 each), which has a semi-matte finish and is super moisturising.

Sleek just added more to the collection: frosty lavender Big Shot, bright peach Fancy Pants and flowery deep pink Hot Tottie.

sleek-whimsical-wonderland-collection-review - 8Overall, a great addition to their expansive – and gorgeous collection.

If you are looking for a pop of colour this season, and don’t want to break the bank, rush to a Sleek counter now, or order online. Or you can just browse the beautiful Whimsical Wonderland collection to your heart’s content.

Desk to dance floor: a little help from Sleek makeup

sleek_eye_cheek_palette_review - 1Most of us know too well the small desk to dance floor struggle.
For that reason, I welcome products that make my life easier when turning from office worker into night out vixen, and that’s exactly what the Sleek eyes and cheek palette does for me.
The eye colours are very neutral (which is the thing for SS16), but there is a sparkly dark earthy, sparkling Marsala tone that will transform those day eyes into disco magnificence.
sleek_eye_cheek_palette_review - 2Admittedly, the brushes are not amazing, they do the job ok but I prefer taking my MAC handbag sized ones.
The blusher is matte and peachy, which suits a variety of skin tones (personally, my fave shade of blusher) and it also comes a sparkling version, quite close in colour and sheen to an expensive best-seller.

Overall, a great purchase, purse friendly in many ways: it’s compact and multitasking, and costs only £10.

You can get the Sleek A midsummer’s dream palette online at sleekmakeup.com and Superdrug and Boots. It comes in four colour combinations.

Say “hello cheekbones!” with the new Sleek Cream Contour Kit

sleek-cream-contour-kit-review - 6God do I like a good contour. Not just the crazy-85-layers-of-30-product contour, but also an everyday, quick and efficient one that gives you just that extra oomph – definition and fierceness.

Sleek has made our lives easier with their new Cream Contour Kit. The palette has six creme colours and is available in three different shades to suit different skin tones. Because there are six shades in each, they blend among each other, making the skin shades it covers really great.

It also comes with a handy guide to make sure you make the best of all colours by putting them in the right place.

sleek-cream-contour-kit-review - 1For this review, I used them all, as instructed on the guide, plus a little bit of shade 1 over my cupid bow, down my nose too and brow bones.

The cream is great – quite firm for consistency in the palette, but melts away on the skin, making the blending process a whizz. Pigmentation is good, so not a huge amount needed for each area; it is also buildable.

sleek-cream-contour-kit-reviewI first did my base with my usual primer and foundation, then using the medium palette, added the colours in the respective areas with a duo-fibre applicator brush (I used MAC 282).

sleek-cream-contour-kit-reviewThen I blended quite a bit with a very light touch, starting with my lighter colours to the darkest, using another duo-fibre brush (MAC 130 which I highly recommend for flawless cream/liquid blending; I use with concealer a lot).

I have to say that the creams are so velvety that blending was very easy.

After blending, I retouched a bit, adding shade 1 to my cheekbones for extra highlighting and a little bit of 6 to the hollows of my cheek for a little bit more definition.

Even though I used all the colours in all recommended places, I think the result is quite natural, there is definition, but no thickness or a massive makeup build up.

sleek-cream-contour-kit-reviewTo finish off, I set with a translucent powder (coloured powder can mask the contouring, I used GOSH prime ‘n set), a little bit of blusher (Charlotte Tilbury First Love), subtle mascara (Benefit They’re Real Lash Primer used solo, as a brown mascara) and a lipgloss (yes, a lipgloss! Lancôme Juicy Shaker in Apricute) .

The contouring and finishing whole process didn’t take more than 10 minutes. I usually do my skin base in under 5.

For everyday, I’d probably stick to shades 1 and 2 for highlighting and 5/6 for the cheek hollows. Of course, shades 3 and 4 can also be used as a concealer.

Sleek, you got it right, once again. And it gets better: this baby costs only £10.99. yes, you read it right. £10.99.

The Sleek Cream Contour Kit launches on the 6th April, comes in Light, Medium and Dark, cost £10.99 (just in case you missed – or didn’t believe – it above!) and can be bought from sleekmakeup.com, Superdrug and Boots.

A lipstick shade a day: the Sleek Lip VIP

sleek_lip_vip_lipstick_review - 3Not too long ago I mentioned Sleek was the very first red lipstick I ever owned, and that started a love affair that spanned years.

Guess how happy I was to get a LOAD of amazing Sleek MakeUp lip colours, but this time it came in the shape of their fabulous new Lip VIP lipsticks, which are somewhat different: they have a semi-matte finish.

sleek_lip_vip_lipstick_review - 1Apart from the more luxurious packaging with the colour at the bottom, this £5.49 gem packs a punch. It’s super pigmented and hydrating, with Vitamin E, Shea Butter and Coconut Oil, at the same time, while offering a very decent durability!

This Very Important Pout collection has six new shades to take you straight into spring/summer and more.

sleek_lip_vip_lipstick_review - 4My favourite, Flaunt It, is a vibrant orange; Night Spot is a rich pinkier red (and I love a red lipstick!); Guest List is a bright coral; Backstage, a warm coral pink; Reserved, a candy pink and Private Booth a great nude with some pink in it, and not grey and dull as most, so suitable for my skin tone!

sleek_lip_vip_lipstick_review - 2

L-R: Night Spot, Flaunt it, Guest List, Backstage, Reserved and Private Booth

This fabulous collection will update your wardrobe for the coming season. In fact, I’ve already started injecting it in my life now!

And at £5.49 each, you can certainly afford a few, if not all!

The gorgeous Sleek MakeUP Lip VIP collection is now available from Superdrug, Boots and at sleekmakeup.com.
