A product promising to thicken my hair gets me über excited any day. When a whole line of products claims to give you thicker hair, from the first use, excitement is endless. So imagine how I felt when the L’Oréal Elvive Fibrology Thickening shampoo, conditioner and Thickener Booster landed at my door! Squee!
I’ve been using different lines of Elvive (or Elseve, in Brazil) for many years on and off . But I have to admit I was very sceptical about this one. Rarely a product delivers these grand claims, especially from the first use.
There have been 17 years research and 8 of testing put into the patented technology on this product – Filloxane, which penetrates in the hair fibre, increasing the diameter from within. The effect is also said to be cumulative.
I was very surprised to actually notice more body on my hair. Just to make it clearer, my hair has been falling more than usual in the past six months, from what seems to be stress, and I noticed some thinning, to my despair. So I’ve been watching it like a hawk, short from counting strands left. And I could notice less space around the parting since I started using the these products.
I notice my thinning more when the hair is dirtier. Even then, since I started using Fibrology, it seems a bit less. It seems to good to be true and could be a coincidence, but I am keeping this going. I even bought the hair treatment mask and the finishing serum.
The shampoo has a nice smell, it is pearly white and lathers well. The conditioner is milky white, hair feels soft upon application and after. Hair dries soft, hydrated and without frizz – have to say my hair took to this line very well.
The Thickness Booster is very interesting – it has a 5% concentration of Filloxane – and is meant to be mixed or applied before you apply you conditioner. I prefer applying before. It is a clear, slightly viscous liquid, like a runny serum, and it smells similar to the shampoo and conditioner.
So, I would certainly recommend this – you might as well give it a go as Elvive hair products are so affordable. And I like the packaging colours too!
At the time of my purchase (of mask and finishing serum), I got 3 for 2 at Boots, and at one point it was 3 products for £10, so there are always good deals. Separately the are priced at £2.99 each for the shampoo and conditioner and £5.99 for the booster.
