All year round golden skin

Summer. Suddenly you’re gone. You’re my favourite time of the year, but in London, that dies not equal tan.

The struggle, for bronzed pins is real, and even more so when the brief summer leaves us.

Enter the wonderful Skinny Tan Wonder Serum. Its formula is a dark pearlescent jelly fluid which is easy to apply evenly and dries very quickly, giving skin an instant make over, so you’re ready to go while the tanning agents work.

Left overnight it develops into a gorgeous deep gold tone which lasts for a good 3-5 days.

It contains caffeine, aloe vera, vitamin E, guarana to care for the skin. 96% of its ingredients are natural and Skinny Tan is always paraben & sulphate free, as well as vegan friendly and cruelty free.

I used their fab Dual Tanning Mitt (£5.99) in pink velvet, which makes application even and super smooth on the skin.

Very quickly it turned into my go-to tanning product.

To complete my tanning routing, line I’ve been using their brand new Rainbow moisturising range, which consists Cleansing Moisture Wash, which a tan primer and maintaining body wash, Moisture Hit Body Lotion, a gorgeous tan maintainer super moisturiser and the rich Melting Moisture body balm which is a treat for elbows and knees especially. They costs £9.95 each.

They helps prepare the skin prior to tanning and also afterwards, as some products containing sulphites make tan fade faster. ingredients include cocoa butter, coconut oil, raspberry oil, guarana, she butter and aloe vera, for moisturisation, a hit of antioxidants and skin awakening. Plus, they smell absolutely delicious!

You can get the Skinny Tan Wonder Serum on their website – it costs £29.99 and it’s such a hit that often sells out. Skinny Tan has a great range of other tanning products and accessories.

They also have amazing bundles available on the site and currently Boots has a “buy 1 get 2nd half price” on Skinny Tan products so a great change to stock up!

Beauty and chocolate

Chocolate. We all know how great it is. For me, the darkest, the better. But what about chocolate in beauty? Skincare almost good enough to eat, that turns the goodness of cocoa into amazing beauty products?

That’s Rabot 1745 Beauty, which is part of Hotel Chocolat. The mix of discovering a new beauty brand with such an amazing connection to a luxury food brand is too exciting for me to contain myself!

In fact, Rabot is the name of the estate in St. Lucia where Hotel Chocolat’s sustainable cocoa is grown and is not only inspired by the cacao itself but also the love for St. Lucia, its people and plants – always harnessing the properties of their high quality natural ingredients and the craft that goes into their products.

It is a beautiful story which bears gorgeous fruits. I was lucky enough to try a great selection of their range and can tell there isn’t one single thing that I do not like.

My favourite? Probably the stunning Cacao & Almond Bath and Body Oil (£18, 200ml). Cocoa seed oil is the hero throughout the range and of course, present here, blended with sweet almond oil to provide vitamins and fatty acids for great hydration.

I have been applying to damp skin after my shower and my skin has been super smooth, most times does not need extra moisturisers. The smell? Divine. It absorbs quickly and has a long lasting effect.

Then, a tough choice between two, but going for the lip butters (£8, 10ml): I have the Coconut Chocolat lip balm, with cocoa seed butter, shea butter and abyssinian seed oil and the Fruited Chocolat lip balm with cacao butter, almond oil, cacao butter and rosemary leaf extract.

They are a little delight in smell and taste, and do their job to keep lips moisturised. It comes in 7 different varieties with yummy ingredients mixes.

Not a secret I am a massive fan of body scrubs and of course I had to try one of them. Mine is the new Salt & Lemongrass Body Scrub (£16, 280ml) and it smells so fresh.

It could have a little more grit to it, but overall, this rich salt, lemongrass oil, sweet almond oil and cocoa seed butter scrub does a great job in exfoliating and also leaving skin soft and deeply moisturised. It comes in 3 other varieties (with a coffee and a sugar base) and is a best seller!

Plus, it comes in a reusable cup that , once you finish the scrub, you can clean and take to any Hotel Chocolat shop in the UK for 50p off your hot drink or a free one at the Rabot 1745 restaurant in Borough Market (London). How amazing is that?

And that’s not all; as a fan of scrubs, I am also loving the Avocado & Sour Orange hand scrub (£9.95, 60ml) which leaves hands so soft and ready so soak in the moisturiser.

Plus their Avocado & Lime Smile Reviver (£9.95, 30ml), a lip scrub with avocado oil, omega 3 fatty acids and vitamin A, D, and E, gently exfoliates to leave lips soft and well, more kissable, perhaps!

Also, have you noticed how affordable the products are? Amazing value for money and great for gifting.

This is just a tiny sample of their beautiful range, which you can get the Rabot 1745 website and at Hotel Chocolat shops.

Hanging on to my tan

Am I the only one that feels like as soon as you board the plane back from holidays my tan starts to leave my skin? No? Tell me I am not imagining!

Well, I don’t think I am. I swear that the moment I land back I’ve already lost some of my tan and glow.

Being from Brazil, I grew up being pretty tanned. When I moved to the UK, I became a pale I still don’t recognise as my real skin colour, so being tanned is not just better looking, it makes me feel a little bit more like myself.

Of course, before you ask, I tan responsibly!

So when I get back, I have a few body care friends that help me hang on to my glow that little bit longer. I don’t go full fake tan as I fell it spoils the glow, so I meet it halfway: moisturisers with just a touch of self tan.

Most days, I’ve been using the Dove Nourishing Body Care visible glow self-tan lotion.

It has a very subtle gradual self tan, so it gives just a touch of tan that builds up, so it is perfect to maintain and enhance a natural tan. And it does not smell.

It has Nutri-Duo, a unique dual action complex combining natural skin nutrients and moisturisers, nourishing deeper layers and locking in moisture.

For an extra boost and extra glow, I and using the Dove DermaSpa summer revived with soft shimmer. And what a pretty shimmer it is! I feel the self tan on this product is stronger than on the visible glow lotion, so I am applying this every 3 or 4 days.

And for super hydration…

My absolute favourite body oil for the summer: Dove DermaSpa goodness3 silky body oil.

It has a blend of omega oils and cell-moisturisers, on top of a lovely golden shimmer. It keeps skin hydrated and luminous.

I’ve been a fan for a few years of a similar Dove product, but the DermaSpa version has more tech behind it! I wrote a review on the Dove Purely Pampering oils quite sometime ago and I am glad the product got the DermaSpa revamp.

Apart from this, I am a huge fan of the this works skin deep dry leg oil that gives legs extra nourishing.

When I have my pins out, I use the stunning skin deep golden elixir, with real gold particle that reflect light and make legs looks smoother and brighter.

On occasion, especially when not as tanned, I reach out for the tinted perfect legs skin protector, with SPF 30. It delivers a subtle tint and protect against sun damage. Also has a subtle shimmer for that extra effect!

I actually talked about the this works leg routine in a post last year, check it out, they products are fabulous!

You can buy the Dove DermaSpa Summer Revived, Nourishing Body Care visible glow self-tan lotion and the Dove DermaSpa goodness3 silky body oil from major retailers nationwide and this works from their website.

A luscious shower mousse from Dove

Who shaves in the shower?

I’ve always shaved my legs in the shower, but never used shaving foam. The fact Dove has brought out a gorgeous range of shower mousses has changed my life a bit!

The Dove shower mousse is infused with essential oils and delivers 24 hour softness. It has three variations – argan, rose and coconut oils.

It is creamy and produces instant foam instantly, which then glides onto the skin, cleansing and leaving it soft with a fabulous scent – all three of them!

Of course, not only it is a shower foam to clean skin, but it is also suitable for shaving.

The razor glides amazingly on the mousse that does not disintegrate quickly and the essential oils help skin feel soft after; because it is so gentle and the foam is so rich, it helps prevent irritation.

Worth remembering they are also sulphate free!

The rose oil variation comes in the prettiest pink packaging, but the smell on the coconut oil one is definitely my favourite – although all three smell amazing and leave a subtle scent on the skin after use.

I also love that they have a “scratch and sniff” label on the lid, so you know exactly what the product smells like  before buying.

The pump is smooth to operate in the shower and it delivers a great amount – a little does go a long way!

Since they came into my life, I cannot imagine washing my body with a traditional soap, shower gel or cream again. It feels quite indulgent, but an affordable indulgence, at £3.99 for 200ml.

You can get the scrumptious new Dove Shower Mousse from major retailers, such as Superdrug and Boots, and supermarkets country-wide.

You’ll get addicted, don’t say I didn’t warn you…

Indulge on beauty!

Beauty. Heaven. There is no other way to describe the haven that is Indulge Beauty at Westfield Stratford.

Think makeup, nails, fragrance skin, hair and body care for men and women from over 120 cult, classic and emerging brands under on roof. For all tastes, all budgets.

I was really impressed with the quality and selection of the brands present. Being a beauty blogger, obviously I knew many, but there was a lot still to discover.

Also, the dedicated male beauty area caught my eyes – a comprehensive and approachable offer even for the shyer men starting to get into skincare and grooming.

And their fine fragrance section? To die for. Got me all in love with Eight & Bob (the Original) and I shall get my claws on it at some point.

I left the shop with a gorgeous Capsule box, which only lightly touches on the breadth of the beauty offering from Indulge; from well know Urban Decay, Glam Glow and Beauty Blender, to cult Skin Laundry and classic Clarins and GHD; this just a tiny sample of what you can expect from a place which seems to have it all.

The idea behind Indulge Beauty makes me even fonder of it: a place where the real YOU is celebrated, with their mantra: Be bold, Be brave. Be you.

The best thing? At Indulge Beauty you can get a routine tailored for you – think a shampoo from one brand, conditioner from other, mask from a third; eyeliner from brand A, mascara from B; day cream from brand X, day cream from Y… you get the idea.

Most importantly, advice is neutral, focused on your needs and you can get all in one place!

What better than killer beauty to highlight that bolder and braver you?

From the guys behind The Fragrance Shop, Indulge Beauty is located at Westfield Stratford (Unit 20, The Arcade, Montfichet Road, E20 1EH), in London (soooo close to me, how lucky am I?).

I also popped in (I do all the time) yesterday and was received with friendly, but not obtrusive or pushy smiles, great advice and fun chat (I talk too much so I always initiate).

You can also shop online at indulgebeauty.com, as well as read a bit more about them and what beauty revolution they are plotting!

A facial hero

I first came across Voya last year, at Organic Beauty Week. In the goodie bag, came a body oil I used to the very last drop, but somehow failed to post about.

Fast forward a year and there they are at Organic Beauty and Wellness Week 2017 and in the bag, the gorgeous My Little Hero Facial Serum.

This organic seaweed face serum is made of a blend of organic oils to boost and protect skin.

Full of antioxidants, it nourishes and improves radiance. I cannot stress enough that oils are suitable to most skins, even the more troublesome ones, like mine.

Oils from sunflower, camelina, coriander, grape, pumpkin, pomegranate and jojoba seed, wheatgerm, geranium, lavender, ylang ylang, palmarosa,  rosehip, vetivert root, bergamot, clove, almond, and avocado are joined by seaweed, green algae, vanilla extracts to form this extremely rich 98% organic oil that sinks deep and very well into the skin.

Because it’s so rich, my skin can only take it at night, and sometimes it’s all it needs. Skin wakes up plump and happy.

Admittedly, it is on the expensive side at £53 for 30ml but we are talking high quality organic skincare that goes a long way.

On the fabulous Angelicus Serratus Nourishing Body Oil (£34 for 100ml) which I used up a while ago, only great notes: very rich but quickly absorbed, perfect for after the shower, leaving skin soft and nourished for ages.

It contains a very pleasant and distinctive smell with citrus and the seaweeds focus and angelicus serratus, which work on elasticity, suppleness and cleansing.

A real delight to apply all over the body, it is full of antioxidant rosehip, sunflower and evening primrose oils, vitamin E, revitalizing lime and rejuvenating mandarin. I was really sad to see the empty bottle, I tell you!

You can get the My Little Hero Facial Serum and the Angelicus Serratus Nourishing Body Oil from the Voya website. Products and treatments can be found at 37 luxury locations, including hotels, worldwide like the Mandarin Oriental in London and the Burj Al Arab Jumeirah in Dubai, for example. written by Dani

Sun’s out, legs out

Obviously I am in the sun out, legs out mode. There aren’t that many opportunities to catch the rays in London, so…. Not just that, this post is written mid-sunbathing in Victoria Park, wearing a bikini. Deal with it.

Back to legs. I’ve already talked about getting my pins ready for the summer and this works added oomph to it by giving me all I need for amazingly good looking legs.

Starting with the multi-award winning skin deep dry leg oil. I cracked open a few this blend of 19 essential oils, including lifting and toning rose,  circulation-stimulating tuberose oil, healing and soothing sandalwood and evening primrose a few weeks ago.

Brilliant to blitz the dry skin on the legs it retains and restores hydration. It is also fabulous for elbows and now comes in a handy 80ml size, making it holiday ready.

I have to say I really enjoy massaging it on my legs after the shower and because it smells great, it’s a true treat for the senses.

Now, anything that says shimmering is already in my good books. Add 24 carat gold and vitamin rich add and I just wanna put it all over my body. And face. But let’s calm down.

The skin deep golden elixir is a fabulous serum containing vitamin A, revitalising Clary sage, antioxidants rose and patchouli plus soothing aloe vera and camomile.

It has a very subtle shimmer from real gold, which reflects light and makes skin look smooth, bright and young. Love does not quite cover it.

Now, talking about shimmer, the perfect legs sculpt and shine is just the right thing for those day s legs are out out.

We all know the secret to legs out in photo shoots: contour and highlight, which is not something we will do just to pop to the supermarket, but a bit of shimmer alone goes a long way.

Its golden shimmer highlight comes from a mix of caramel and light diffusing mineral powders that catches the light and brings out the best bits on your pins, shaping and defining. I am a huge fan already.

Perfect for my rather naked-y festival attires coming up! And it is not just pretty, it also cares for the skin with hyaluronic acid and algae extract.

Finally, to round up the leg love, the perfect legs skin protector with an SPF 30, which comes as a handy spray and it is tinted using tinted caramel and mica, suitable to most skin shades as it is subtle and blends very well.

It delivers UVA and UVB protection and also superb care with hyaluronic acid, shea butter, vitamins E and C.

For me, it works like a primer, not too much delivering colour but working on texture and slightly softening imperfections.

They can be used in combination, but if I have to pick one to invest on first, it’d be the classic skin deep dry leg oil. I mean, I love oils, to start with. And after some time using it daily, you don’t even need to use anything else. It moisturises, nourishes and skin gets better at retaining the moisture and the dry patches become a thing of the past.

Now, guess how many this works products I have on my legs at any given time…

The this works skin deep range, including the dry leg oil (£39.50, 120ml and £25 for the new 80ml travel size) and the golden elixir (£45, 120ml) , as well as the perfect legs skin protector (£40, 100ml) and the sculpt and shine (£28, 60ml) are all available (together with all the other amazing this works products, legs or not) at the this works website.

More shower time bliss

Oh, shower products. 2017 is seeing a fab influx of great shower products: inventive formulations, better skincare and different textures. I love it.

Nivea, another brand very close to my heart, has some amazing brand new products to elevate the shower bliss: the Nivea Care Shower Milk Mousse (RRP £2.99) and the Nivea Shower Creme & Oil Pearls (RRP £2.39).

The Shower Silk Mousse contains silk extract, essential oils plus almond oil and is amazingly foamy. The soft lather applies heavenly on the skin, cleansing and leaving it extra soft.

It comes in three gorgeous fragrances: Creme Care, Creme Soft and Creme Smooth, and I love it has a scratch and sniff sticker on the lid, so you know what it smells without needing to open it.

The Shower Creme & Oil Pearls is a rich cream with Argan oil and vitamin E enriched oil golden pearls, providing intensive skincare and moisturisation.

Comes in Cherry Blossom, Ylan Ylang and Lotus, fragrances to relax you mind while looking after you body, for a luxurious showering experience at home.

It does lather very little as it is a créme. It does, however, feel amazing, during and after use.

You can also see the golden pearls that burst their goodness as soon as you massage into the skin. The fragrances really provide a bit of oomph.

Both the Nivea Shower Creme & Oil Pearls and the Shower Silk Mousse and their lovely variations are available from retailers nationwide.

Pear-fect care and protection

When you are 100% sure you found your hands down favourite Dove deodorant scent, they bring out something completely different to confuse you. Meet the Dove GoFresh Pear and Aloe Vera antiperspirant deodorant.

I’m not usually one for fresh scents but this one hooked me in, so once again, the collaboration with Givaudan pays off for Dove.

The pear and aloe vera fragrance is fresh, but very feminine. The sweetness of the pear totally does it for me, if I am honest.

On top of that, Dove is always improving the formula on their products and of course you can count on the 1/4 moisturising cream, which is now, in fact, is using the same ingredients as luxury face creams, to care for your underarms’ skin, keeping it soft, as well as protect against sweat for 48 hours.

Worth remembering that when we shave our underarms, 36% is actually skin! No wonder that often neglected part of the body can feel dry and irritated.

The range contains the fabulous anti-perspirant in spray, roll-on and stick, body wash and the brand new shower foam, which I will have to talk about in a separate post as it is divine!

You can get the fabulous Dove GoFresh Pear and Aloe Vera range from retailers nationwide and products are priced from £2.65.

For more information on all amazing products from Dove, including the 2017 launches and their Self-esteem Project, visit the Dove UK website.

P.S.: Sorry about the cheesy headline. Obviously I could not resist!
