A bit of everything – then some more

Do you ever, like me, go into TK MAXX and feel like a kid in a sweet shop, not knowing where to look?

That happens in most locations, but I always managed to find what I need: be my most convenient, London Stratford or my closest to work, Bank, but their new Oxford Street location just took that feeling to a whole new level, where big brands at small prices are spread across four floors.

Modern, spacious, organised, friendly and full of cute corners, with a killer stock!

You can find their usual accessories, beauty, shoes, women, children, toys and men sections, together with the coveted Gold Label, jewellery and also Pre-Loved, a small super luxury section where you can find big ticket second hand designer accessories.

Think original dream handbags, procured and authenticated. How great is that?

The beauty section is always fun for me – so many fabulous brands I love and worked with in the past and you can truly find some gems.

It is also a great place to discover new brands and products!

Now, the home section has my heart – so much that at my visit to the new shop I ended up getting most of my little visit haul from there, including a set of four beautiful iridescent glasses for £7.99 and a 15oz candle for the same price.

Where can you find great glassware at such good price? Cushions as fas as the eye can see? Towels so soft and so affordable? Kitchen utensils staples but also some you didn’t even know you needed?

Candles, for example, I will never pay through my nose for that again; they have so may options of excellent quality!

Not going to lie, I got this very seasonal Sea Salt Pumpkin (yum) there the last time, but I have at least two of the same brand, with more classic fragrances I like for my home, purchased a while back, stocked up and ready to go.

And the shoes? Have you ever paid attention to the calibre of the designers at the Gold Label section? It is INSANE. And the savings you get?

Add that to the rows and rows of the non- gold label footwear at even better value.

Talking about Gold Label, the same goes for clothes. Some gorgeous stock going.

I went a bit more modest and got this fabulous pink coat at a very affordable £39.99 that is going to see me through the autumn very well. I love a pop of colour, especially in the colder months where everything is so grey!

I have, apart from the goodies I got in this shopping trip, many a gems from TK MAXX.

My kitchen is full of amazing accessories from known brands which were purchased there for a fraction of the price.

Who remembers my gorgeous silver holographic glitter boots that look a million dollars but was purchased for £17 a few months back?

And who hasn’t got the heartache of not having bought something, just to go back a few days later to get it and not find? A black leather handbag, circa 2010, Clapham. My heart.

TK MAXX works with many designer brands – big and small – and are always procuring the latest in fashion.

You may think most of it stock is past season, but the vast majority comes from current season overproduced, overbuys from stores, and some especially manufactured stock for TK MAXX which negotiates volume and good prices, which are passed on to us, consumers!

Great for the pocket and also a good chance for surplus stock to actually get sold and used. Oh, and it does not hurt they look sooooo good!

Oh, and they have plenty of Halloween stuff at the moment!

TK MAXX has many stores across the UK, Europe and Australia – so easy to find one near you. Visit the new one at 203-207 Oxford Street, just a few minutes from the tube station.

Oh, and don’t forget they also put some of their stock online, so visit their website – you can use gift cards and even click and collect at the shop!

Please note that this was a PR offered opportunity. I was invited to visit their new shop and given a gift card to buy some tempting items, but the above is based on my experience on the day and general, asa customer, with TK MAXX.

Key SS15 men and womenswear trends from Esquire and Elle at London Seven Dials

Edit02

Seven Dials is a very cute place in London just off Covent Garden with some amazing shops.

On the 9th May, they held a fabulous shopping event and I was really happy to be invited by the lovelies from Sister Is PR to their VIP tent, before the trends talk began, to have a (maybe some) King Bloom cocktail,Cawston Press amazing rhubarb soft drink and Propercorn popcorn (fuelling my Vanilla & Coconut flavour addiction).

Westfield #BareFacedOrBold Makeup Challenge starts on 19 October!

barefaceorbold

I love Westfield. So much, I live only 7 minutes walking from one – ok, I didn’t move because of it, but my boyfriend joked that I wouldn’t really need the flat, as I’d live inside Westfield!

Needless to say, I was delighted when they approached me to take part on their #BareFacedorBold Challenge, to create six looks; three bold (yay) and three bare-faced ones.

Cute clutch bags from Claudine London

Strolling around the market in Covent Garden, I came across the Claudine London stall, dotted with colourful and sleek clutch bags.

The  art-deco inspired design is very unique. The lovely Claudine herself was manning the stall,  and she told me that each bag is hand made, with silk and velvet, and the perspex panels are sprayed individually, so they are all different (most bags have different colour on each side)!

From the Diffusion line, I loved the “Meriel” bag (pictured), which I picked up from  the stall and held on to longingly. Apparently,  the “Belle” is more popular, due to being bigger, thus enabling you to fit more  in. The price for the smaller bags is around £50.

She also told me that she is working on one of the bigger bags of the collection tonight, the one she had on display was a gorgeous asymmetric delight of a bag!

Even though the online shopping page of her site has been removed as it is going through improvements, she said if I get in touch she will post the desired bag to me, or she will inform of her next Covent Garden market stall days!

So, if you are looking for a clutch bag that is elegant, unique, can make an outfit and a statement, look no further!

The Shoe Fund

Never too many shoes...

Last year, when I got lovely Louboutins for my birthday, an idea struck me: the shoe fund.

I am not earning bucket loads, and although I could make room to afford a spontaneous buy of a £500 pair of shoes, this could affect my budget in a way I wouldn’t like.

So I thought I would, every month on getting paid, put a very small amount of money (currently at £30) into my ISA savings account, so I could treat myself to fabulous shoes on my birthday – and  The Shoe Fund was born. At that rate, the amount over 12 months would buy me basic Jimmy Choo courts or I could add some money on top of it to go for something wilder.

This has been going very well, even though this year I won’t have a full 12 months savings ( I started it in March 2011, and supplemented with a refund and a mobile phone sale!) , I will be able to buy another great pair.

I just found out by Googling it, there is something similar from Independent Women, but their shoe fund is more a financial service directed to savings for any occasion – “build or raid a fund that is set aside for those days when a little retail therapy is the best remedy. Whether that is a holiday, home improvements, a new outfit or even just a lipstick or two is irrelevant “.

My shoe fund has made me happier and I cannot help but wonder how many women out there could benefit from this – and if luxury shoe makers could get on board, offering a small discount if the purchase from the money in the shoe fund was used to buy their shoes… Just a thought!

Shopping fever

I am infected by a pesky shopping bug!

I have been compromised, and have the worst case of shopping fever in a while. It is not related to the sales, only 4 of my  sea of purchases was actually from the bargain bin.

It seems to be contagious: 3 of us in the office are suffering from similar symptoms.

In the past 2 weeks, I bought: 1 pair of trousers, 3 dresses, 2 skirts, 1 shorts, 5 tops, 3 high heels, 2 pairs of flats, 3 rings, 2 earrings, on top of very expensive flights to Brazil.

I need some help, thinking about setting up a support group!
