Plump it up!

sleek-plumping-lip-crayon-review - 1On this is always sure: you can always count on Sleek to produce the goods.

I’m a lipstick love but I find quite the application rather tedious (read proper application – liner, brush, shaping, the whole thing!), so for everyday, I favour lip crayons that deliver good pigmentation and durability.

sleek-plumping-lip-crayon-review - 9Enter Sleek Power Plump Lip Crayons, a brand new product launched on the 29 June, which delivers all that plus a stinging plump to the lips.

sleek-plumping-lip-crayon-review - 10The Sleek Power Plum lip crayons comes in six mega wearable colours – red, pinks, coral, nudes: there’s something for everyone.

It’s super smooth with a sheen finish, delivers well in colour pigmentation and last well for the finish, fading evenly and not drying the lips.

sleek-plumping-lip-crayon-review - 7Now, the plumping divided the audience. The sting operation is real and lasts. While I didn’t mind, Alice, my blonde in residence, testing pinks, wasn’t super comfortable with the sensation.

And at each application, it brings back the heat – it’s like you put chillies in your lips. Now, I cannot take spicy food for my life, and I was cool with it; the plumpy feeling is real!

The Sleek Power Plump lip crayons are brand new and just launched, late last month, in six colours, at £5.50 each. You can get them from the Sleek website or from Superdrug.

Discovering Seventeen

seventeen-makeup - 1Seventeen is one of those brands I’ve been familiar with for a while, but never actually tried anything from.

Maybe because I’m more on the No7 age bracket, but never mind! It turns out I got quite the surprise…

As a proper introduction, I was delighted to give some of their best selling products a go.

seventeen-makeup - 2Their Define & Conquer count our kit is super slim and fits well in any makeup bag. The highlighter is light and matte, which makes a huge change from all the powder highlighters I use, which have some shimmer in. It does work well to lift the highlighted points very subtly, which I really liked.

The contour powder is a light tan, not very warm, that works as well as a count our as it does as a subtle bronzer.

seventeen-makeup - 1The kit also comes with an easy-to-follow, straight forward guide for application.

Both apply and blend well, as have a decent durability.

seventeen-makeup - 3The Skin WOW! Concealer is clearly a dupe for the YSL Touché Eclat, and works in the same way, to highlight and conceal.

Used under the eyes, it brighten it up, and works in other parts of the face as a discreet highlighter.

seventeen-makeup - 4The formula is less rich than the more expensive cousin, and that reflects a bit on the pigmentation and overall effect, but means it blends easier.

Now, what cannot go unnoticed are the prices: Seventeen delivers great value for money.

Maybe I am indeed on the Seventeen age bracket!

The Define & Conquer countour kit costs £5.99 and is available in two shades: Fair and Medium. Skin WOW! Concealer is priced at £4.99 and also comes in the Fair and Medium shades.

At the moment, you can get a second item half price on selected Seventeen products – and let’s not forget all those precious Boots cards points!

A fresh, hydrating breeze

avene-eau-thermale-review - 2I am a huge fan of face mists, there is no denying.

Now that the weather is slightly better, I feel I can talk about it and not feel that if I actually spray water on my face, it would freeze before reaching it. Yes, I am bitter with this lack of summer thing.

Avène Eau Thermale thermal spring water spray, however, is a bliss for any weather.

In the summer, it cools and refreshes. In the winter, it is perfect for soothing. Because the thermal water is captured straight from the source, it retains all its amazing natural soothing and anti-irritating properties.

avene-eau-thermale-review - 1All squeezed into in a handy spray. The very fine mist lands lightly and feels amazing on the skin, delivering immediate comfort. It is fabulous over makeup, to freshen up, but even better directly on the skin.

It is very pure, all it has is the purest water, and also leaves a barrier for a long-lasting effect. It is great for all skin types, but mainly irritated and sensitive skin.

I confess I am a bit addicted!

This is 50 ml (around £3.50) and the 2016 special edition of their flower girl, but you can get this size all year round in the normal packaging – perfect for handbags and flying.

The Avène Eau Thermale thermal spring water spray also comes in 150ml (£6.50) and 300ml (£10), and can be bought from big retailers, such as Boots, in-store and online.

Smooth steps into the summer

superdrug-foot-care - 2A bit hard to believe but it is summer in the UK, but we’ll roll with it.

Nothing better than finally releasing your feet from the shackles of boots, tights and multiple socks. But wait – are those feet in tip-top condition?

Fear not, Superdrug has everything you need to get them sandal-ready in no time.

superdrug-foot-care - 1My favourite is the Rapid-pedi electronic foot file, which works a treat to remove dead skin (gross, I know) and leave your footsies super smooth.

This is particularly important for me as my gym activities tend to be barefoot so the skin really grows and thickens (gross x2).

This handy device comes with two files, fine and coarse, for blitzing that unsightly skin.

superdrug-foot-care - 5I also use it on my hands, which have the tell-tale calluses of aerial hoop, to make them more acceptable and make sure my dates do not recoil when I touch them. Sad times.

And it’s only £19.99, a great value for money. At the moment, it’s only £13.30 and you can get refill files for £6.99 a pack.

Apologies for the close-up of my foot!

After filing, I like to apply a good soothing and conditioning cream, like this barefoot lemon and sage foot balm. It’s fresh and light, so it doesn’t stick;

Sometimes, I apply something stronger, like the barefoot foot lotion or Superdrug Intensive foot cream. Works a treat when used overnight with socks on.

superdrug-foot-care - 4Sorry, I sleep alone so no issues there.  Or I’d like to think so. Maybe that’s why I sleep alone!

Their foot care range has everything – even the emergencial plaster and those handy blister plaster for the foot to make sure those beautifully care for feet dance all night!

superdrug-foot-care - 3The blister plaster lasts all day, very useful for new pumps that rub at the back.

I can certainly count on Superdrug to look after me!

Take a look at their foot care range on the Superdrug website. At the moment, they had 1/3 off selected footcare and a free barefoot gift when you buy any 2 footcare products in the promotion!

Discovering Mii cosmetics

mii-cosmetics-review - 2Discovering new brands is a huge perk of blogging and when you’ve been doing it for a while, it’s a bit rare to come across a brand you never even heard before.

Mii makeup was one of those, and I went into their immersion event, at the gorgeous ME London penthouse, with a very open mind and very curious.

mii-cosmetics-review - 1After a fab Mii spray tan, I got to explore their very extensive makeup range, for all tastes and complexions. And I got to try a few items, which surprised me with their quality.

The Celestial Skin Shimmer in Rose Quartz is as good as it is pretty.

mii-cosmetics-review - 5Within is mosaic, a mix of golds, pinks and corals, that mixed create a beautiful flush and glow to the cheeks.mii-cosmetics-review - 7

The lighter shade is also a handy and effective highlighter.

mii-cosmetics-review - 3Makeup brushes make me happy. I have more than I could ever use and I still manage to go through a fair few.

The Miracle Base Brush is packed with compacted soft bristles, making it quite firm. Made from liquid and cream foundation, I think this works very well with powder too, for a heavier application and great blend.

mii-cosmetics-review - 6Finally, the Forever Eye Crayon in Sorbet a shimmery beige leaning towards peach that also works wonders as a highlighter. On the brow bone and for me, it’s hero use, the Cupid bow to make those lips pop.

The durability is fantastic, it sets quickly after application, with enough time Tom blend and it comes in 8 colours.

mii-cosmetics-review - 4Mii is a salon brand, brought to the UK by Gerrard International, the same company behind the fab Jessica nail polish, which is also a professional brand.

The Celestial Skim Shimmer costs £27.50 and comes in two shades – mine, Rose Quartz and Aurora, the Miracle Base Brush, £21.50 and the Forever Eye Crayon, £17 each.

You can browse their fantastic range on the Mii cosmetics website.

Brows, brows, brows, Gimme Brow

benefit-gimme-brow-review - 1Since the first time I had my eyebrows filled, I never looked back. It did feel a bit weird at the time, but soon, weird became not having them filled.

I am trying new products all the time, and found a little gem in Benefit’s Gimme Brow Gel. That’s because it is so easy to apply, last a long time and really, the effect is just great.

Gimme Brow is a gel with buildable micro-fibre particles that stick to your own eyebrow hair and skin, filling it up and making it look fuller, and thicker.

Because it is a gel, it also keeps the brow in place, shaping them too.

benefit-gimme-brow-review - 2The tiny little tapered brush spreads the gel beautifully on the brows and its precision tip does a great job of shaping them; creating a fab lift and defined arch is easy-peasy.

It is water resistant and I can vouch for the panels findings of brows looking fuller and natural – and that’s the main thing for me: they are full, thick, but very natural, not painted on.

Here you can see my right eyebrow, with Gimme Brow and my sad left one, with nothing!

Plus, it is soooo easy to apply, easier than any other beloved brow product I ever used, so perfect for every day use. It can also be used on top of a filler (powder or pencil) for extra sharp effect.

The Benefit Gimme Brow costs £18.50, is available in two shades (Light/Medium and Medium/Dark, which I am using) and can be bought from House of Fraser.

The sun is out – don’t forget your sun cream!

eucerin-anti-ageing-sunfluid-review - 2Maybe I am overreacting with my title… it’s sort of out. Ish. Ok, ok. Should be out.

It’s that time of the year when we can finally feel some rays hitting our face and sadly, when people start thinking about wearing sun protection.

Truth is, it should be worn all year round and whereas in the winter the high SPF in my makeup is usually enough to keep me protected, in the summer a proper sun cream 30+ daily is a must.

Last summer I fell in love with Eucerin’s mattifying fluid and their tinted SPF.

This year I thought I’d stick with them, but they brought out the Sun Fluid Anti-Age and the Sun Cream Tinted CC, which have quickly become favourites in my routine.

The Eucerin Sun Fluid Anti-Age comes in SPF 30 and 50.

It has broadband UVA and UVB sun protection, it also counts with biological cell protection in the form of antioxidants glycyrrhethinic acid, which supports skin DNA protection and repair and licochalcone A, which helps protect skin against free radicals.

eucerin-anti-ageing-sunfluid-review - 1To top it off, it also has two types of hyaluronic acid, to deeply moisturise and help plump those fine lines.

A serious protection and care product for everyday.

Now, talking about that, how about a bit of makeup? Well, a little bit!

Eucerin also brought out the Sun Cream Tinted CC. I’m a fan of their tinted SPF, so no wonder I’m into this one too!

With its huge 50+ SPF, it contains colour pigments for a natural, light and even cover. Perfect for the beach, pool or lazy makeup days.

It also behaves well under makeup, as its mattifying.

Just like the Sun Fluid, it contains UVA ABD UVB filters, glycyrrhethinic acid and licochalcone A, to protect and care for the skin.

Both are quickly absorbed, unperfumed, paraben-free, non-comedogenic and of course, suitable for sensitive skin.

The sun Eucerin Fluid Anti-Age costs £20 (available in SPF 30 and 50). The Sun Cream Tinted CC costs £18 and is available in light and medium.

You can find Eucerin in all major retailers nationwide.

Pretty face: Givenchy Teint Couture Balm foundation

givenchy-teint-couture-balm-review - 1Summer usually asks for a lighter foundation, which for me is s problem as they tend to have less coverage.

When I saw the Givenchy Teint Couture Balm I thought it would be way too sheer for my needs.

Surprisingly, this smooth balm, which unifies the skin making it look fresh, gives light but decent coverage with a flattering blur and illuminating effect.

givenchy-teint-couture-balm-review - 2

The “Light & Blur” complex helps conceal imperfections such as fine lines and blemishes, creating a more natural, lightly corrected and glowy complexion.

It has no oils and applies well; apparently it has some volatile ingredients that vanish as the balm melts into the skin, contributing to its lightness.

givenchy-teint-couture-balm-review - 3Durability wise, I’d say it stands a full work day with some wear; in warmer climates, it looks great for at least six hours.

The Givenchy Teint Couture Balm foundation costs £30 for 30 ml and you can get it from Debenhams, which has a fabulous range of makeup to cater for all your beautifying needs!

Extra hydration: a touch of SkinCeuticals Hydrating B5

skinceauticals-hydrating-b5-review - 1What if you could give your skin an extra shot of hydration, with no oiliness, stickiness or that heavy feeling or layering up products?

SkinCeuticals Hydrating B5 fits the bill: thin, water-like fluid glides on the skin and is absorbed immediately, with quenching effects.

It can be used alone or to complement the moisturising routine. I use it both ways; I find that in the winter, it’s a lifesaver and in the summer, it helps hydrate deeper without being too much.

It is also great during the day, especially around the eye, a few dabs to break dryness caused by air conditioning.

skinceauticals-hydrating-b5-review - 2Vitamin B5 and hyaluronic acid are the main ingredients, for a smoother, suppler complexion.

Because its oil free it’s doesn’t clog pores, bring ideal for acne prone skin.

The vitamin B5 aids with tissue repair and hyaluronic acid helps bind moisture to the skin, providing lasting hydration.

I am a huge fan of additional hydration products that don’t weigh in the skin; as mentioned before, mine can’t take rich creams, but still craves that deep hydration, so layering is perfect for me.

skinceauticals-hydrating-b5-review - 3This product goes really well with another SkinCeuticals favourite of mine, the SkinCeuticals Blemish + Age Defense.

You can get the SkinCeuticauls Hydrating B5 from Dermacare Direct, and it costs £38.

Dermacare Direct also stocks a range of SkinCeuticals products and also other cosmeceuticals at great prices. They also count with handy advice to help you choose the best regime for you.

How it feels to be golden-Kissed by Mii

img_1084Oh how I love being tanned. For me, tanned is a natural state as a Brazilian, but since moving to London my skin has turned a colour I still don’t recognise as mine.

I’ve been using self tan for a while now, but have rarely had a spray tan.
Only my second ever, Kissed by Mii was a lovely experience.

The whole Kissed by Mii range – professional and at home – is enriched with marine mineral extracts. The nourishing benefits of coral seaweed and coastal flowers replenish the skin’s natural minerals to leave it soft, helping the tan develop evenly.

At the fabulous London ME set up, where I was introduced to the brand – not only the professional spray tan, but also their lovely and extensive makeup range and home tanning products – just added to the experience.

img_1083My tan-master, the lovely Shelley, explained every step, made me feel super comfortable in my Mii gown and turban, and selected the right shade for me, after consulting.

The process was quick, the tan dried quickly and the guide colour was fabulous.

img_1082Getting that tan was very welcome, as I was about to embark to Brasil on holiday, so the prospect of not glowing in the dark was exciting.

I have to admit that not being able to shower before bed was a bit unnerving for me, but I soldiered on.

img_1088In the morning, when I washed it off, the colour left was close to the guide, obviously lighter and more natural, an even sun-kissed golden perfect for my skin tone.

Smell wise, I have to admit I did catch a sniff from time to time – I’m quite sensitive about that, but overall it didn’t bother me too much.

img_1092Arriving in Brasil, the sun sadly disappeared within two days for a whole five, but my Mii tan stood in for it, until its return.

To be Kissed by Mii and look fab, check their website to find your nearest salon or professional offering the tanning service.

They also have the fabulous Kissed by Mii home tan range that includes all preparation os post-care, as well as amazing exfoliating wet wipes, well worth checking and coming to the blog soon!
